I HAVE read lots of revolutionary books in my life because the previous apartheid government forced us at gunpoint to empower my mind with umrhabulo.
The book Che Guevara by David Sandison is about Ernesto Che Guevara de la Serna well known as Che Guevara an Argentinean Revolutionary born on 14 June 1928.
Che can be compared to African revolutionaries like Nelson Mandela, Jacob Zuma, Robert Mugabe, Sam Nujoma, Samora Machel, Fidel Castro, Muammar Gaddafi because he was not just an intellectual but he went to trenches fight the enemy of the revolution which is the west.
“A man of profound ideals, a man in whose mind stirred the dream of struggle…” Fidel Castro in 1967
He was regarded as a hero by Fidel Castro after he helped him to overthrow Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1959.
Che did not only helped to liberate people of Cuba but he guerillas also helped to liberate people of Bolivia, Peruvia, Brazil, Peru and other South America countries from the US-backed oppressive government.
Che had always maintained close links with the active revolutionary movements of other nations, encouraging the formation of guerilla training facilities in Cuba for the world to be in insurgents which could also be used by Cuban military personnel.
“It is then, at the end, that we see the profound tragedy which circumscribes the life of the proletariat the world over”, Che Guevara in 1952
He worked with revolutionary movements such as the ANC, PAC of Azania, Swapo, Frelimo, Zanu PF, Zapu, MPLA and others helped to train South African liberation movements military wings like Umkhonto We Sizwe, Azanian People Liberation Army, and Azanian National Liberation Army.
Our sacrifice is a conscious one, it is in payment for the freedom we are building,” Che Guevara in 1954.
Che was not afraid of the US administration; he was hated by the US but regarded as a hero by the people on the ground.
In 1997 a body was discovered and the test proved to be Che. It was a tragic and shoddy end to a relatively short life of a revolutionary filled with remarkable, often historically important incidents.
Che continues and still continue to be a seminal figure in the revolutionary circle. If you are into revolutionary books, this is a book to read. If you are a writer you want your book to be review sent email to firstname.lastname@example.org or Whatsapp message to 083 402 4743.
