“We won this ward by 96.8 percent which is nearly 97 percent and despite some challenges that we came across as the African National Congress we will keep this ward. We expect between 60 to 70 percent win.

“We have challenges which are voting stations opening late and in one voting station presiding officer disappearing for about 4 hours. People wearing ANC regalia were assaulted and one sjamboked by EFF members. We will be opening a case of intimidation against those involved,” said Modise. ANC ready to win Tshwane Ward 9 again

*THE AFRICAN NATIONAL Congress is working hard around the clock to trump down small opportunistic parties that are only visible during election time.

The by-elections come after the previous councillor Emmanuel Moselane’s membership was terminated by the ANC.

The Tshwane Ward 9 by-elections are highly contested by the ANC which remain the biggest party in the ward against small parties that stand no chance to take the ward from the ruling party.

The candidates that are contesting are season local politician Barbara Baloyi of the ANC (African National Congress) , Mamane Khoza of the EFF( Economic Freedom Fighters), Cornelius Maponya of the F4SD (Forum for Service Delivery), Thabiso Sikhosana of Aljama ,Jerry Tuuba of (Areco) Arusha Economic Coalion and Themba Donacabe of the Democratic Alliance.

The by-elections will be on the 31 October around Winterveldt from 8 am in the morning.

In the previous local government elections, the ANC obtained about 97 percent in Ward 9 which was the highest in the whole Gauteng.

The voting stations for this by-elections are Refalotse Primary School, City Rocks ground, Galeboe Middle School, Montsho Primary school, Rev Makunyane Church, Jesus Christ Our Rest Ministries and Old Assemblies of God of Africa.

The ward remains an ANC stronghold because the party has not received less than 70 percent votes since 1995.

Kate Bapela of the IEC confirmed that by-elections for Tshwane Ward 9 will take place on the 31 October starting with Special votes on the 30 October from 8h00 in the morning to 5h00 in the afternoon.

Bafuzi Yabo the ANC Regional spokesperson in Tshwane said more groundwork has been done.

“We are very prepared to continue winning the ward despite a number of parties contesting in the ward. The ward is our stronghold, in previous elections is was the highest in Gauteng with about 97 percent of the people voting for the ANC.

“The ward has close to 16 000 voters and the majority of them wanted the ANC to continue with its work of delivering services to them,” said Yabo.

Councillor Nkele Molapo of the DA said they are well prepared to take the ward from the ANC.

“We are prepared to take the ward and we have been speaking to people and they are very positive to vote for our party,” said Molapo.

Thapelo Makgale the spokesperson for F4SD said they are ready to win the ward and they have managed to convince those who did not want to vote to vote for their party.

“As F4SD we are ready and we are visible on the ground and the community is happy and wants us to represent them. We have a young candidate because youth a not represented in the council,” said Makgale.

Our predictions place ANC on top

Predictions by City Post  Reporter Sizwe Zwane

*The ANC has a lot of chance to win the Tshwane Ward 9 by 70 to 80 percent due to small parties that pop up during election time. Remember this is no number one ANC ward in Gauteng there is no ways that it can lose this ward after it has place Barbara Baloyi well known ANC Women’s league activist in the ward.

*EFF is a danger to the ANC in the Ward by placing Mamane Khoza season local politician and the former political prisoner as their ward candidate. EFF will manage to steal more votes from the DA but will also not manage just a small position of ANC votes. The ANC needs to make sure that people like Mamane Khoza are recruited by to the party because they have followers and good credential. The EFF will manage to get about 20 to 35 percent of the votes.

*The DA candidate Themba Donacabe is an unknown person who is known by few individuals in the community he doesn’t stand a chance in this by-elections. The DA will be embarrassed because they stood not to get more than 10 percent of the votes.

*Cornelius Maponya of the new kid on the block the F4SD (Forum for Service Delivery) has a good track record in community work and he will manage to steal more votes from the ANC, EFF, and DA voters. He will surprise many by getting between 10 and 15 percent event his party doesn’t have enough budget to push elections campaign.

*Jerry Tuuba of (Areco) Arusha Economic Coalition is another unknown politician from an unknown party, I don’t think he stood a chance of getting 5 percent of the votes. This one will get about 1 percent or less.

* Thabiso Sikhosana of Aljama is also not known in the community but he will get more votes from the Moslem community which are less than a percent. He will also get 1 percent or less.

Comrade Stalin is no more

*THE AFRICAN NATIONAL Congress in KwaZulu-Natal has lost of the greatest revolutionaries, communist, unionist, chief mobilize, and who is one of the founders of Umkhonto we Sizwe Comrade Eric “Stalin” Mtshali.

Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu the provincial ANC spokesperson told City Post that although they were aware of his ill-health, they were nursing hopes that he would recover and be with them once again.

“As the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mtshali family and the South African Communist Party – the party that he served until his last days. What saddens us is that his departure is a depletion of solid leaders who are the custodians of the culture and values of the Alliance. He had a rare ability to analyze the political environment under which we operate and assess the balance of forces and their influence in the success of our programmes.

“In all meetings, he offered analysis on the challenges experienced by the ANC in implementing programmes aimed at driving the transformation of society and offered solutions on how to turn things around. Cde Stalin was known within the ANC and the Alliance as a solution-driven leader.

“He represented a long list of trade unionists and SAPC leaders who became pillars of the National Democratic Revolution. He spent more than 30 years in exile and represented the South African Congress of Trade Unions at the World Federation of Trade Unions in Prague, Czechoslovakia,” said Simelane-Zulu.

She said Mtshali was a Chief Mobiliser and a disciplined Commissar of the MK, he was a leader whose conviction that our cause would triumph never for one moment flagged.

“The military and political training that he received in Tanzania and Russia strengthened his resolve to ensure the total defeat of the apartheid system. He remains credited for mobilizing urban and rural communities to join the ANC and ultimately the struggle against apartheid in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

“His bravery was unmatched and it is for these reasons that the former President of the Republic of South Africa, his Excellency J.G Zuma awarded him the National Order of Mendi for Bravery in Silver.

“Importantly, Comrade Stalin used every opportunity in parliament as an MP to advance the interests of ordinary members of society. He was a fearless debater who also prioritized education and the acquisition of knowledge required to achieve the total economic emancipation of the marginalized. His passion for education resulted in a school being named after him,” added Simelane-Zulu.

She concluded by saying as the ANC we are hopeful that during this difficult period, the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the whole country will be comforted knowing that the Eric Stalin Mtshali Secondary School will remain a symbol of hope for many years to come.

Ubhuti ka Brian act “innocent”

*AFTER BEING SILENCE for days uBhuti Ka Brian has issued a media statement dismissing allegations that he is was given part of billions from VBS heist. But he failed to prove it but the Hawks might6 not be fooled by the cheap pr exercise. In a statement, he also failed to give a reason why his brother’s name is on the list of people who looted the VBS bank.

Floyd Shivambu said ever since the VBS Heist Report was released, I see weapons of mass deception and propaganda machines hard at work to mislead our people with their fake news.

“For the record, I have never received R10 million from VBS or anyone in my personal account. Faceless sources reportedly to be from South African Reserve Bank, who have ulterior motives, have been misleading journalists and radio presenters with their malicious narrative.

“I have no dealings with VBS and any attempt to link the EFF to the bank for cheap political points is a clear sign of desperation and soon enough people will see through it. The so-called well-placed sources in the SARB is a coward and a liar who misled journalists and can’t even reveal their identity,” said Floyd in a statement.

He added by saying their position on VBS has never changed even when the Bank is under curatorship, that is why we exposed the appointment of Nedbank to take over the accounts of VBS Depositors without due process despite the fact that there are fewer Nedbank branches and Nedbank is the most expensive.

“If our interest was on siphoning money from the dissolved Board Members of VBS, we would have disengaged when the bank was placed under curatorship. We, however, continue to closely monitor how Depositors monies, made an endless call to the Reserve Bank to give people their money and motivated why the Bank should be saved,” added the statement.

Never dig a grave for someone

NEVER DIG a grave for someone because you might end up in the same grave. Some called it karma and in Sesotho bare ho bohloko ha molamu o kgutlela sefateng.

Those who called for former President Jacob Zuma to step down are not feeling the heat. It started with Nhlanhla Nene the former Finance Minister, now uBhuti ka Brian has been exposed too.

Some will start to see that there was a smear campaign against former President Jacob Zuma as I have stated previously. More inve4stigations need to be done, digging deeper we can find more skeletons into the VBS bank scandal.

*I would like to congratulate Comrade Tito Mboweni for being appointed into Ministry of Finance. The state president has appointed a good candidate with experience but in future, we have to consider the youth.

Youth are not taken seriously and the youth are doing more groundwork and they are always on the ground.

It is time for South Africa to do always with cabinet ministers who are over the age of 70 years because they are old and they must be given a chance to rest.

I don’t have a problem for 70 years old being a member of parliament but being appointed as a cabinet minister or premier I see a problem.

We have experience youth who can contribute political ideas that can help to grow our economy. We must not forget that the youth was in the forefront of the struggle against apartheid and we can give the present generation to proof that youth can make things happen. Amandla!!!

New power plug for South Africa

*All future buildings in South Africa must incorporate electrical sockets that conform to South Africa’s new plug and socket standard.

This is according to Gianfranco Campett, Chairperson of the SA Bureau of Standards SC23B Mirror Committee, who was speaking to 702 Bongani Bingwa on Tuesday

Campett noted that while the standard was first introduced in 2014, few buildings and homes in the country have migrated to the socket.

“South Africa adopted this international standard but ultimately only two countries adopted it, so unfortunately again, South Africa has got another unique standard,” he said.

SANS 164–2, also known as ZA Plug, has the same hexagonal profile as the Europlug seen on cellphone chargers, but includes an earth pin, MyBroadband reported.

It is substantially more compact than South Africa’s three-prong plug standard and has much thinner pins.

With the wiring code amendment taking effect in January 2018, each plug point in a new building must have at least one socket that can accommodate a ZA Plug.

Speaking to MyBroadband Cecil Lancaster, a regional director for the Electrical Contractors’ Association of South Africa ECA(SA), said that from the installer’s side there was initially some confusion about the wiring code requirements.

There was also some initial resistance due to the price difference between installing an outlet with at least one ZA Plug socket in it, and outlets that only support the older standard.

The price has since reduced to the point where it is no longer a factor, said Lancaster.

“There was some consumer resistance due to existing appliances bearing the old type plug, but it is mostly satisfied by offering combination socket outlets containing both types,” he said.
